The Bajo Komodo Eco Lodge in Labuanbajo is part of a series of eco lodges in Borneo, Bali and other places, which are managed by the INDRADEF Foundation. The lodges place special emphasis on environmental protection.
The lodge has a mandate to follow the main principles of eco tourism, which are, environmental sustainability, environmental staff training programs, involvement of the local community, environmentally sound management practices in the hotel (use of storage water, use of solar hot water, composting and careful waste management), respect for the local culture and proof that surplus funds are mainly used for environmental protection in this area.
The main effort is to support persons and organisations that protect the Komodo Dragon and the coral reefs of this area, both of which are priceless assets. Any guest staying here assists in achieving these goals.
As part of the eco lodge policy, the Bajo Komodo Eco Lodge concentrates on giving the visitors a warm and respectful welcome, a restful and friendly atmosphere and to take back something positive and happy about West Flores and Indonesia.
The double rooms of Bajo are spacious and comfortable with air-conditioning and overhead fans. The rooms and buildings feature locally found Flores blue stones which, when mixed with the white tiles, produce a pleasingly cool effect.
